A great opportunity!

As couponers and deal hunters we are able to, over time, get a nice stock pile of great items to prepare for the future.  I have truly been blessed over the years by my couponing and finding deals and accumulating an awesome stock pile.  It has helped our family financially, physically, and mentally in many ways.  (Here is my testimonial if you are interested)

Today is the last day to write your own entry to win some awesome prizes!

That being said…I have recently found a great website called Preparedness Pro that gives “panic free, practical preparedness information.”  Right now Kellene of Prepareness Pro is having an epic Preparednesss Outreach Contest.  You have the opportunity to not only inspire others to become more prepared but to win great prizes.

Here is what she says you need to do to enter:  (go here for more information)

“All you need to do is write or video record your message inviting others to consider a self-reliant lifestyle. Perhaps you can share how it’s benefited you, or how it’s given you peace of mind, or perhaps restored freedom and a sense of independence you can be proud of. Perhaps you can address how your efforts to be more prepared have helped you and your family during tough times, or share what the key moment in your life was that made you start to take actions to ensure your well-being regardless of what life may throw at you.”

This can be as simple as  a short paragraph to something as big as a video. You could write up something as simple as how couponing has helped you in your life or your family or something a little more elaborate as making a video of your stockpile and tell how that stock pile has given you peace of mind.  Here is a great way to inspire others to coupon and save money and possibly win some awesome prizes.  Don’t wait on this though as April 16th is the last day to enter.

Here is my entry to give you an example.   By leaving comments you are casting your vote for that particular article.

Be sure to head over here to read the other entries .  Again,  vote for your favorite by leaving comments on those particular articles.   There are such great testimonials and practical ways to become more prepared for whatever may happen in your life.

For long term power outages, we have accumulated a lot of different items to help. We have a generator that will run some stuff. We have quiet a few different cooking stoves like a Sun Oven, Volcano stove, Butane cookers to name a few to be able to cook without power. Of course we have flash lights, candles, etc for light. We also have propane heaters.

Laurel, to learn how to get free items, I would suggest you first look at this post http://lots2save.com/new_to_couponing/abcs-couponing-online-deals/abcs-coupons-online-deals-freebies/ and see if that helps at all. Then just keep an eye out on Lots 2 Save especially when I post the individual store match ups like Rite Aid, Walgreens, Target, Walmart and on those deal list you can see how and what coupons and deals you need to get free items. Let me know if you have other questions.

What are your plans if we have a power outage … for a long time, like weeks?
